Savory Spice Shop Serves Up New Cooking Classes

The next class 'Flavors of Morocco' starts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11.

Whether you'd like to learn how to make your own pasta or pick up some tips for hosting a summertime tapas party, has you covered.

With a wide range of offerings, from healing spices to the secrets of grilling up a smokin' barbecue, the demonstrations appeal to a broad audience.

All classes begin at 7 p.m. and cost $15 per person. To register, call the shop at 908-264-8947 or email westfield@savoryspiceshop.com to reserve your spot. Attendees are welcome to bring a bottle of wine with them.

Flavors of Morocco,  7 p.m. Wednesday April 11:

Andrea Krest, personal chef extraordinaire, will be joining us once again and taking us on a culinary journey to Morocco.  All participants are provided with a tasting, demonstrated recipes, discussion of dishes and a profile of each of the spices included in the recipes.  The menu will include Spiced Harissa Almonds, Tomato Jam, Vegetarian Tagine with Preserved Lemon and grilled flatbread with Za'atar.  

Pasta Making, 7 p.m. Wednesday April 18:

Chef Mike, the food-director at the Chelsea in Warren, will be making fresh tomato basil fettuccini with alfredo sauce. A demonstration of how to make the dough and roll out the pasta will be followed by a tasting. 

Healing Spices, 7 p.m. Wednesday May 2:

We are excited to have Elizabeth Miller in our shop to discuss the power of food with a strong focus on the healing properties found in spices - both everyday and exotic! Samples will be provided to exhibit how to incorporate these spices into your diet.  

Summertime Tapas Party with with Chef Karyn Cardenas, 7 p.m. Wednesday June 6:

Join us as we host Karyn Cardenas of iCookuEat personal chef services as she shares ideas and demonstrates some of her favorite recipes for hosting the ultimate summertime tapas party. Entertaining in the summer often means firing up that grill, creating more heat and smokin' up your patio. Why not treat your guests to something different? Karyn will show you how!     

Savory’s Summer BBQ with Chef CJ, 7 p.m. Monday June 18:

CJ Reycraft, Chef de Cuisine at Chez Catherine, is back again. This time CJ will be sharing some great ideas for how to spice up your grill. He’ll be covering grilling and smoking techniques and how to best utilize dry rubs and marinades. This will be another one you won’t want to miss!
