Private Parking Lot Plans to Start Towing

Notice to cars parked in lot behind Banana Republic and School of Dance.

According to notice placed on cars parked behind Banana Republic and the Westfield School of Dance Tuesday evening, cars parked in the parking lot not belonging to customers in the two businesses will be towed starting Thursday.

The notice, which is signed by "management," was placed on cars in the lot during the early evening hours. Several cars parked in the lot were observed to have the papers on them. It is not known if the signs were distributed by Banana Republic, the dancing school or an outside landlord.

The notices say that cars towed will be towed at the expense of the car owner.

The parking lot has become a popular parking destination for downtown shoppers seeking a free parking lot near stores. In addition parents dropping off and picking up children at the nursery school at the First Congregational Church across the street are known to park in the free lot.
