Pita Grill & Creperie Serves Up Soft Opening Next Week

Fans of Mediterranean fare will be pleased hear Pita Grill & Creperie will celebrate a soft opening late next week.

When Patch stopped in the new eatery located at 108 Quimby St. Thursday afternoon, Sam, the shop's manager, and his crew were putting the finishing touches on the interior, which features booths as well as tables and chairs for on-premises dining. Guests can also place take-out orders and eventually Pita Grill offer delivery.

"We will not offer delivery in the first month," Sam said. "We want to make sure we are getting everything right first."

Featuring quick-serve, made-from-scratch Mediterrean and Middle Eastern favorites such as kabobs, gyros, falafel, shawarma, sandwiches and salads, the grill's opening has been eagerly anticipated by residents.

Patch blogger Ellie Mroz said she's been looking forward to sampling Westfield's newest dining option.

"I'm so excited; I'm ready for some pita," she said. 

Sherry Cronin, executive director of the Downtown Westfield Corporation, told Patch she thinks this cuisine will be a hit with residents and out-of-town visitors. 

"I think it'll be an interesting mix that they offer there," Cronin said. 

In addition to the more traditional dishes, Pita Grill will also feature French crepes made fresh daily. 

"We serve both savory and sweet crepes," said Sam, who added that the fruit-filled dessert crepes in strawberry, banana, and apple are a favorite.

The shop, formerly home to Homemade Pizza Co., is decorated in soft, muted shades with large, paper lanterns that lend a whimsical and exotic feel to the otherwise casual café. Food is prepared on grills in the open style kitchen, similar to Chipotle.
