Pegasus Sporting Goods Celebrates Grand Opening Saturday

The first 50 customers will receive free Nike t-shirts.

Calling all athletes! will celebrate its grand opening at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 7 by giving away Nike t-shirts, including kids sizes, to the first 50 customers.

The store, located at 317 South Avenue, is the third location of the soccer specialty business owned by Westfield residents Paul and Daniela Silva. With three decades of experience in the sporting goods industry, the Silvas currently operate two other stores, one in Newark and one in Harrison.

"We are excited about coming to Westfield because the town and surrounding areas like Cranford, Scotch Plains and Clark have long supported the sport of soccer but for years have lacked a local soccer specialty store they can shop," Paul Silva told Patch in April. "Pegasus Sporting Goods is looking forward to providing exceptional customer service to this deserving community."

Silva said he had been hoping to open in mid-May but getting the space ready took a bit longer than anticipated.

In addition to soccer footwear, apparel and equipment, Pegasus will also carry lacrosse, basketball, baseball, and tennis footwear as well as swimming accessories.
