Former Westfielder's Product Stars in Academy Award Gift Bags

Stacey Maggio's lavender rose-scented body lotion given to all 91 nominees

Former Westfield resident Stacey Maggio, owner of Viavo, an avocado oil body and bath product line, is making her Oscar debut this weekend.

The Westfield High School class of 1980 graduate is presenting her full-size, lavender, rose-scented body lotion, made with avocado oil, to each of the 91 awards nominees at the 2013 Academy Awards gift lounge.

Maggio told The Sand Paper.net she is hoping the lotion, which retails for $20 per bottle, could lead to a celebrity endorsement. This isn't the entrepreneur's first brush with fame. In June of 2012, Maggio's Viavo Organic Body Polish was selected as a featured product for nominees of the Daytime Emmy Awards, which ultimately led her product being chosen for the Oscars.

Maggio noted that if she receives a big enough response from attending this awards event, she will consider taking her products to New York Fashion Week in December.

In honor of the big night, Maggio is also hosting her own special Facebook contest. Entrants who correctly guess the winners in certain Oscar categories will receive a special gift from Viavo. Click here to enter

After attending the University of Colorado Boulder, Maggio moved to California. The entrepreneur started her product line Viavo in Southern California, the avocado capital of the world, in 2006, according to a press release. After 16 years of marketing and promotions experience with Sony Electronics, Maggio dreamt about starting her own business in skincare industry. After obtaining her esthetician’s license in California, she returned to her home state of New Jersey and combined her marketing background with her entrepreneurial drive to launch Viavo.

“Our products are very unique and always avocado-centric,” said Maggio in the release. “They are great for all skin types but they are especially kind to mature, sensitive or troubled skin.”

Maggio, whose products were featured on The Wendy Williams Show Friday, has been keeping her Facebook fans updated as she rubs elbows with celebrities. The business owner posted on her page that "6 Time World Champion & Olympic Gold Medalist, Sugar Ray Leonard just tried our lavendar lotion."
