Westfield United Fund Sundae

Residents of all ages are invited to “Westfield United Fund Sundae,” an old-fashion ice cream social, on Sunday, October 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. on the lawn of the North Avenue train station.   Free ice cream and Italian ices donated by local businesses will be served while supplies last along with musical entertainment in celebration of the Westfield United Fund’s fall campaign kick-off.

Westfield United Fund Sundae is one of several initiatives planned by the newly independent Fund to highlight their annual fundraising appeal.   WUF trustees and agency representatives will be dishing up frosty treats along with campaign materials and pledge cards.   This year, the Fund aims to raise $650,000 in support of 19 local human services agencies including Mobile Meals, Contact We Care, and the Westfield Community Center.

Linda Maggio, executive director of the Westfield United Fund, notes that the event is being held with the full cooperation of the town and through the generous donations of Cold Stone Creamery, Edy’s, and Rita’s of Westfield.   Aimed especially at young families, the social is designed to bring the Fund’s mission to the attention of new donors in a festive, neighborhood setting.   Musical entertainment will be provided by the QED jazz quartet.
