Chipotle to Spice Up East Broad Street by Summer

The Mexican grill with the motto "food with integrity" will occupy a portion of the space that housed The Leader Store.

Fans of Mexican fare will be pleased to know East Broad Street will soon be the home of the fresh ingredient grill Chipotle. The restaurant will open in part of the space previously occupied by The Leader Store, next to .

Construction crews are currently "fitting out the space" and, depending on how quickly they work, the restaurant could be up and running by summer, Sherry Cronin, executive director of the , said.

The restaurant chain, started in Denver in 1993 by Steve Ells, a chef on a quest to build the perfect burrito, prides itself on serving "food with integrity."

According to its website, the company is committed to "always look closer, dig deeper, and work harder to ensure that its actions are making things better, not worse."

"It’s our promise to run our business in a way that doesn’t exploit animals, people or the environment. It is the philosophy that guides every decision we make at Chipotle," Ells said, on the webpage in which he tells the story of how the restaurant evolved.

In addition to its fresh chips and guacamole, the eatery is known for its customizable soft or crispy tacos, burritos and salad bowls. Chipotle also offers a kids menu that allows little diners a chance to create their own tacos or sample mini-quesadillas.

It was once owned by mcdonalds, what does that tell you. Don't pawn this off as "healthy". Another fast food restaurant, how is that an asset except on the balance sheet of the owners. Anyway, isn't there one on rte 22? The "selling out" of a once community owned downtown continues.

So happy about this! I'm a big Chipotle fan! They are going to give Qudoba and Tinga a run for their money.

You're right about one thing: nothing else in town is worth going for. Strange you're not complaining there are too many "Italian" restaurants.

Finally! I couldn't stand the food at Qdoba anymore! I am so excited, I can't wait!
