'Cake Boss' Targets Sept. 1 Opening in Westfield

Carlo's Bakery is seeking a retail associate with 'a passion for cake.'

"The Cake Boss," a.k.a Buddy Valastro, and his culinary crew are hoping to open the doors to their East Broad Street bakery on Sept. 1, according to Adam Bourcier of Carlo's Bakery.

In February, Valastro confirmed that he was planning to set up shop in downtown Westfield. The announcement came just weeks after he opened his second location in Ridgewood.

The flagship store in Hoboken, where sweet-toothed patrons are willing to wait in line for hours for a taste of the reality TV star's confections, has been in business for more than a century. Valastro, a fourth-generation baker, is making good on his vow to keep his family's business growing.

"It's a surreal experience," Valastro told Ridgewood Patch in 2012 regarding opening a second location. "I made my dad a promise to make this bakery a household name and I think he would be so proud right now."

The Westfield shop will include a "Custom Cake Bar" where patrons can catch a glimpse of their cakes coming to life.

Bourcier said the bakery is looking to hire a retail associate. Among the job requirements, which include punctuality, courteousness and quality assurance, is a 'passion for cake.' To learn more about the position, click here
