Artist, Winemaker André Mack Visits CoolVines This Evening

Mack is the first African American to win the title of Best Young Sommelier in America.

will play host to a celebrity of the wine world this evening. André Mack of Mouton Noir Wines will be on hand for the Central Avenue wine purveyor's final  show and tasting from 5 to 9 p.m.

"It's a great honor to have him come to the store and hang out with us," said Lauren Ramos of CoolVines. "He's not only a wine producer but a winemaker, sommelier, author, and artist as well. His pieces are really edgy and poke witty fun at the wine industry. We have some of them on display and for sale at CoolVines. He's also the first African American to win the title of Best Young Sommelier in America."

According to Mouton Noir Wines' website, Mack left behind a successful career with Citicorp Investment Services to pursue his passion for wine. While working as a sommelier in San Antonio, Mack discovered the thrill of introducing guests to the little-known vineyards that first attracted him to the business and “the instant gratification of a guest’s reaction,” the site states. It was while he was still in Texas that Mack was awarded the prestigious title of Best Young Sommelier in America by the highly regarded Chaine des Rotisseurs.
