11 Westfield Dentists Named Among Best in NJ By Peers

NJ Monthly asked 6,426 New Jersey dentists to tell them which of their colleagues they consider to be New Jersey's best practitioners. The 2013 list includes the state's 441 Top Dentists, as chosen by their peers. The issue is available on newstands now.

The following 11 dentists with Westfield offices were named among the state's Top Dentists:

Joseph Banker, DMD: "After 17 years in practice, Dr. Joseph Banker continues to set new standards in the field of cosmetic dentistry. A New Jersey Monthly Top Dentist for five consecutive years, he has carved out a niche that offers patients the smile they’ve always dreamed of.

Harout Barsemian, DMD, of Apex Endodontics, with offices in Westfield and Morristown, offers retreatments, root canal therapy and apicoectomy in a friendly enviornment.

Thomas Burns, DMD, specializes in orthodontics for children and adults, providing many different types of treatments, including Clarity™ clear braces, Damon® System and Damon Clear™ time-efficient braces, In-Ovation® precision braces, and Incognito™ lingual braces.

Stanley Gersch, DMD, received a BS in Biology from the City College of New York and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Mass. After completing a General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center,   NY, he specialized in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at NYU College of Dentistry. Dr. Gersch and his wife, Cindy, reside in Westfield, NJ where they have raised their two adult children, Scott and Shari. In 2005 Scott joined his dad as his partner at Gersch Orthodontics.

Scott D. Gersh, DMD, is the son of Dr. Stanley Gersch and grew up in Westfield, NJ where he graduated from Westfield High School in 1995. He received his Bachelor’s Degree with honors from the University of Michigan in 1999, and then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 2003. Dr. Gersch was on the Dean’s List, served as class president, and received honors including the Award for Excellence from the New Jersey Society for Pediatric Dentistry for his enthusiasm and skill in caring for and treating children. Gersh has been selected as a Top Dentist by his peers for five consecutive years.

Ronen Gold, DDS, is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He attended Cornell University and completed his undergraduate studies receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. He subsequently attended New York University College of Dentistry where he earned a D.D.S. degree. Gold also has been selected as a Top Dentist by his peers for five consecutive years.

Jay L. Greenfield, DMD, named a Top Dentist in 2012, 2013, offers a full-service Periodontal and Dental Implant practice.

Paul B. Langer, DDS, specializes in Endodontics.

Timothy P. McCabe, DMD, is a graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, PA and then completed his residency in pediatric dentistry from St. Christopher’s Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. McCabe is Board Certified in pediatric dentistry. Dr. McCabe was raised in Westfield and attended Holy Trinity Interparochial School. McCabe has been selected as a Top Dentist by his peers for five consecutive years.

Torin W. Rutner, DMD, MD,  is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a particular interest in facial cosmetic/plastic surgery. 

Elaine M. Swingle, DMD, FAGD, told NJ Monthly, "My goal is to identify patients’ problems, determine their wishes, and deliver solutions that enhance their overall dental health."
