'Pink Out' Draws Hundreds to Benefit Breast Cancer Awareness

The fifth annual volleyball and breast cancer awareness event was another success on Friday evening.

The Westfield High School Girls Volleyball team hosted their annual ‘Pink Out’ on Friday evening to raise awareness and funds and to honor breast cancer survivors, including the team's coach Bev Torok.

The bleachers were filled with a sea of pink as the crowd cheered on the Blue Devils.

Although the freshman and varsity teams lost to Watchung Hills, there was no shortage of excitement in the evening. The Junior Varsity team won both matches, continuing their 9-0 record.

Following the varsity matches, Breast Cancer survivors were cheered on by the crowd and given flowers.

This was the fifth annual Pink Out event held by the volleyball team at WHS. All proceeds from the event will go to the Susan G. Komen foundation. Last year, the girls raised over $20,000 for the foundation and they are hoping they have topped that this year.

Check back with Westfield Patch for more photos and videos of the matches and survivor ceremony.
