Westfield Woman Competes for Miss New Jersey USA Title

Mallory Miller, 22, will compete in the Miss New Jersey USA pageant next weekend.

Westfield resident Mallory Miller will participate in this weekend’s Miss New Jersey USA competition, which ultimately leads to the Miss Universe Pageant.

Miller, 22, is a recent graduate of Rider University where she studied Music Theatre.  Previously, she attended McKinley Elementary, Edison Intermediate and graduated from WHS in 2009. She is a singer, dancer and actress so she feels comfortable taking the stage on Oct. 18, 19 and 20 for the competition.

"Walking across the ballroom floor in front of the judges doesn't scare me since I've been on stage so much," Miller said.

To prepare for the pageant, Miller has been working out and staying fit, as well as picking out her outfits for the competitions. She will be wearing a Tiffany blue bikini for the swimsuit competition, a red cocktail dress for the interview portion and for the formal wear portion she chose an elegant evening gown.

“I love my gown and am excited to wear it,” she said. “I’m pretty proud of myself in finding this dress.”

Miller explained that she normally ends up picking up the most expensive dress on the rack, but found a steal on the sale rack with this one.

“It’s not the cost of the gown that will impress the judges, but the way the contestant feels in it that will register,” she expressed.  “I feel great in mine.”

The Miss New Jersey USA pageant will be held at the Parsippany Hotel. Tickets are sold at the door for $35 for Saturday and $50 for Sunday. The public can attend at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 5:30 p.m. Sunday’s 5:30 p.m. show will feature the Top 15 semi-finalists.
