Photo and Video Gallery: Washington Parents Take to Stage to 'Get Sm'Art'

Crowds watch annual Washington School show.

The auditorium at Roosevelt Intermediate School was packed on Friday and Saturday as Washington School's parents took to the stage to sing, dance and have some laughs in the annual school show.

The 64th annual school show drew crowds to watch as a group of Washington students, portrayed by Katie Garguilo, Josh Wein, Lani Lipkind and Bill Sickles set out on a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and ended up investigating the left of Van Gogh's "Starry Night." The quartet searched the museum, seeing the art come to life and share clues through song and dance, leading the group to discover that the curator portrayed by Josie O'Brien was the art thief.

The show, an annual tradition, staged by over 200 parent volunteers as a PTO fundraiser, contained many of the Washington traditions including the faculty fance, the men's dance and the couple's dance. The show started at Grant School in 1948 and has continued uninterupted since.
