Local Residents to Premiere 'Sitter' at Westfield Rialto

'Sitter' is a dark-comedy based loosely on a real-life scenario of a mother losing her beloved babysitter.

The world premiere of the film, “Sitter,” written by award-winning screenwriter and Fanwood resident, Jennifer Harrison and starring accomplished actress and Scotch Plains resident, Lainie Ventura, will screen at the Westfield Rialto Theatre on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m.

“Sitter” is based loosely on Harrison’s real-life situation of losing her beloved babysitter, but takes on a whole new life in this dark-comedy about a mother who will do just about anything to keep her sitter around.

The tagline for the film is, “You can take her dignity -- just don’t touch her babysitter.”

Harrison and Ventura have produced the film with their company, LoveBar productions in association with Jersey Flix. A majority of “Sitter” was filmed at Ventura’s Scotch Plains home, with a scene at Rudy’s in Garwood and an office in Edison. Rudy’s also catered production and Mara’s Café and Bakery in Fanwood and Fanwood Bagels generously donated during filming.

The red carpet event on Oct. 17 will be a screening of the film and will also feature a Q&A with actors, directors and producers. “Sitter” has already received five awards, including second place for short comedy in the 17th Indie Gathering International Screenplay Competition. The screening is free and tickets are first come first serve.
