Visit for a chance to view the Art Strings collection and possibly even win one of the works of art. The reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight.
Art Strings combines the visual and performing arts to raise funds for the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's extensive music education and community engagement programs, according to NJSO's website. Ten local artists were commissioned to create individual works using violins as their canvas, drawing inspiration from a musical program or work the NJSO will present in its 2011–12 season. Devoted NJSO Ambassadors generously donate their time to display the violins and sell raffle tickets for a chance to win one of these works of art. These transformed violins will be displayed at NJSO concerts and selected art galleries throughout New Jersey during the 2011–12 season.
Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to win one of the creations. All proceeds benefit the NJSO. Tickets will be sold 1 for $10, 3 for $25 or 15 for $100.
