Troupe of Friends and the Westfield Recreation Dept. present the first production of the summer season; Samuel Beckett's iconic masterpiece "Endgame," presented in The Community Room in the Westfield Town Hall. There are two performances: Friday, June 18th and Saturday, June 19th at 8 p.m. This is a rare opportunity to see this influential play.
"Endgame" is one of the greatest modern dramas, blending the absurd vaudeville dialog of "Waiting for Godot" with gallows humor as a man and his servant search for meaning in the last corner of the world. "Endgame" follows a day in the life of a group of decaying survivors, the blind and wheelchair-bound tyrant Hamm, his servant Clov, his parents Nagg and Nell who live in two trashcans.
Featured in the cast are Westfield residents Joseph Penczak, Ken Bigelow, and Lisa Black, and Cranbury resident Fred Dennehy. Susan Bigelow, also of Westfield, is Stage Manager. Joseph Penczak's direction is based on Beckett's own notebooks, written years after he began as a playwright, when he became an active participant in the theatrical process and a peerless director of his own work.
"Endgame" performances are Friday and Saturday, June 18th and 19th at 8 p.m. The production is free, and no tickets are necessary. The Community Center is located in the Westfield Town Hall, 425 E.
