Raptors to visit Westfield Memorial Library

(July 20, 2011) – On Saturday, August 6 at 10:30 a.m., the Westfield Memorial Library presents Birds of Prey, a program about raptors for adults. The Library is located at 550 East Broad Street, Westfield

Bill Streeter, Director of the Delaware Valley Raptor Center teaches the audience about golden eagles, peregrine falcons, saw-whet owls and other birds of prey. He brings six live raptors and spends an hour discussing their habits and imbuing the audience with a greater sense of appreciation regarding the raptors of the northeast.

Streeter, who has a BA in Biology and an MS in zoology, entertains as well as educates. He has spent over 30 years studying and rehabilitating raptors, and practicing the ancient art of falconry.

The Delaware Valley Raptor Center is a private, not-for-profit, tax-exempt state and federally licensed rehabilitation organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and conservation of birds of prey. The Center provides humane, professional care for orphaned, ill and injured raptors so ultimately they can be returned to the wild, healthy and no longer dependent upon humans for survival.

The program is free and open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries.
