Heart of Stone

The award-winning documentary by Beth Toni Kruvant speaks of a gutsy principal's efforts to stave off gang violence and boost student morale in Weequahic High School. "The film illustrates how African-Americans and Jewish alumni help each other and turn the school in a new, safer direction." Heart of Stone has won the audience award in Slamdance's documentary competition. Hal Braff, co-president of the Weequahic High Alumni Association, will be present after the movie and to speak and answer questions. A suggested donation of $5 per person is requested for the benefit of the Weequahic Mural Restoration. For more information, call the number or send an e-mail to Carolyn Shane.
