2nd chance at Christams with the Madrigal Singers

 

Madrigal Singers to
present Holiday Concerts December 18th  and January 8th

The Madrigal Singers will
present their annual "2nd Chance at Christmas" concert, Star of
Wonder
, on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, One
East Broad Street, in Westfield, New Jersey.
The concert will begin at 4:00 p.m.  General admission, available at the door, is $15, admission for students and seniors is $10.

Star of Wonder will also be presented on Sunday, December 18th, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount
Virgin Roman Catholic Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex, New Jersey.  The concert will begin at 4:00 p.m.  General Admission is $15; student and senior admission is $10.

The program will feature Thomas
Tallis’ luminous Mass for Four Voices.  Also on the program are works by Josquin Des
Prez, Palestrina and Ralph Vaughan Williams, as well as traditional Christams
carols and readings.

The Madrigal Singers are an a
capella choral group specializing in Mediaeval and Renaissance music.  The group, founded in 1948, is currently in
its second season under the direction of John Sichel, and is comprised of
sopranos Rachel Coburn, Martha Desmond, Pam Newell and Amy Wechsler; altos
Donna Brumbaugh, Roberta Lichtenberg, Jennifer Melick and Sarah Riffel; tenors
David Alston, Richard DeVany, Christopher Ferro and Marty Silverberg and basses
Gregory Hartline, Kirk Robbins and Timothy Svendsen.  Joining the Madrigal Singers on this program
will be flautists Flora Alexander and Eugenia Cline.  Kirk Robbins will perform the readings.
