CoolVines Hosts 'Intersection of Art and Wine'
The Central Avenue wine shop is hosting tastings featuring wine makers who collaborate with local artists to design their labels.
has partnered with GAS Gallery And Studio, an art studio in Maplewood, to host a wine-themed art exhibition titled 'The Intersection of Art and Wine.'
The art exhibit is a collaboration with wine educator Hank Zona and Kevin Lynn and will present artwork inspired by and related to the culture and love of wine. Works will include art created for wine labels and art containing wine themes. Featured artists include Lyman Dally, Kevin Lynn, Andre Mack, and Tara O'Leary. The exhibit has already had a successful run at GAS Gallery and Studio from April 3 through May 17.
"When the show wrapped a couple of weeks ago, they brought the artwork over to us, and now we're going to be hosting a series of events in the store with tastings featuring wine makers who collaborate with local artists to design their labels," said Lauren Ramos, of CoolVines. "The artists whose artwork is displayed in the store will be here to discuss their work. Hank Zona will be here possibly conducting interviews for his television series."

Zona hosts the wine infotainment show (which airs on SOMA-TV in Maplewood and South Orange), proprietor of Swirl Wine Events, and longtime Maplewood resident. Each episode of 'The Grapes Unwrapped' takes a user-friendly approach to a wine-related topic. Shows have included how to pair wine with chocolate, which wines bring out the best in summer vegetables, and how to match up wine with casual Italian food.
The exhibit is a unique opportunity for artists, critics, and wine and art lovers to experience the view of the contemporary wine and art markets. Several of the wines represented by and in the artwork will be available for sampling by attendees.

The first event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 1. Birk O'Halloran of Iconic Wines will be on hand to sample his Heroine Chardonnay and Secret Identity Rosè.
Other upcoming events will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 15 and Friday, June 29.
