WHS Concert Choir Thanks Community for Support

Concert audience donated over $900 to help Sandy-displaced families.

The Westfield High School Concert Choir would like to thank the community for its support and participation in two recent fundraisers.

The Christmas tree disposal service was a huge success. Choir students and parent volunteers worked from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to pick up more than 175 trees from Westfield residents who registered and donated $10 per tree for the service. Proceeds from this event will go towards scholarships and future choir department trips.

In addition, at its holiday concert, the Choir Department held a collection to benefit A Jersey Shore Christmas, an organization that helps families who have been devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

Thanks to the support and generosity of the concert audience, $924 was received and converted into gift cards. Dr. Linda King, Supervisor of the Fine Arts, delivered these gift cards to A Jersey Shore Christmas, who then distributed them to Sandy-displaced families just in time for the holidays.

The Choir’s next concert at the Westfield High School is scheduled to take place on the evening of Wednesday, May 22.
