Westfield Native Wins National Wrestling Media Association Award

The National Wrestling Media Association, founded in 1989 as a member group of journalists, photographers and media specialists, announced its 2013-14 award winners at its annual meeting at the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla, according to nationalwrestlingmedia.com

Among those winners was Westfield Native Joe Kania for the extensive wrestling coverage he provides for the Star Ledger. As Westfield High School graduate, Kania was a state qualifying wrestler in the heavyweight class.

"I'm very thankful and fortunate to have been able to turn my passion into a career," Kania told Patch. "Wrestling in New Jersey is special and it's been a honor to help promote these talented kids and this sport."
