Westfield Named 36th Safest Community by Safewise

Safewise pairs data from the FBI's Crime in the U.S. Report from 2011 with their own comprehensive investigation.

The Town of Westfield was named the 36th safest community in New Jersey earlier this month by the company, Safewise.

Westfield was ranked out of 50 communities for its safe streets, good schools and powerful sense of community, according to Safewise.

To create the Top 50 list, Safewise uses the data from the 2011 FBI's Crime in the U.S. Report, in addition to their own comprehensive investigation.

The study also referenced Westfield's many parks and recreation programs, as well as Memorial Pool.

Scotch Plains also made the list as the 33rd safest town, while Cranford was listed as 34th. The No. 1 safest community was Mahwah Township.
