Westfield Memorial Library Hosts Holiday Creativity Workshops

The workshops will be held on Dec. 11 and 18.

The following information was provided by The Westfield Memorial Library.

The Westfield Memorial Library will host two holiday creativity workshops on Dec. 11 and Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.

On Dec. 11, local artist Wendy Rosenberg will present “The Art of Gratitude.” In this workshop, she explores creative ways to make gratitude fun, not just something people "should" do, but something that they can't resist doing because it is so enjoyable and the effects are so powerful.

“What if gratitude was not just a concept, but it was something you could actually touch with your hands?” she asked. “Connecting to a true sense of gratitude can bring so much more meaning to the holidays.”

Participants will leave the workshop with a completed poem and a "Gratitude Garland," which is a lovely decoration for their home, and a reminder of the greatest gifts throughout the holidays and winter season.

On Dec. 18, Ms. Rosenberg will present “The Art of Giving.”

This time of year is focused on giving. While the holidays often emphasize giving and receiving tangible products, giving from the heart is often the most meaningful gesture of all, she said. “We just need to open our minds and imaginations.”

In this workshop, she will guide participants through creative exercises that explore the role of service in their lives. They will both honor the ways they have given to others in the past, and discover new opportunities for sharing their gifts in the future. Participants will look at service through a lens of creativity and fun, and discover that the most meaningful gifts are often the most simple.

The workshops are free and open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries. Check our website to see if your library participates.) Register by visiting the library’s website www.wmlnj.org and clicking on the Calendar link, or by calling 908.789.4090 ext 0.
