Sunday's Hurricane Related Closures Around Union County

Churches, pools and parks closed due to Irene.

Hurricane Irene's arrival in Union County has caused multiple closures county wide of parks, churches and businesses. Here is a list Patch has compiled of what has announced a closure.

  • Most businesses will be closed on Sunday due to the hurricane.
  • NJ Transit buses, trains and light rail are closed.
  • All New York City public transportation is closed.
  • Newark Liberty International Airport remains closed.
  • The following closures have been announced for Sunday, Aug. 28 due to Hurricane Irene.
  • All Union County parks and recreational facilities have been closed on Sunday.
  • The Union County operated Route 22 safety shuttle bus is canceled on Sunday.
  • The Westfield Memorial Pool and Westfield Conservation Center have been closed on Sunday.
  • All worship services at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield have been canceled for Sunday.
  • Clark Mayor Sal Bonaccorso has canceled all church services in the Township of Clark on Sunday by declaring a state of emergency. He has also imposed a curfew on all township residents between 8 p.m. on Saturday and Noon on Sunday.
  • The Summit Farmer’s Market is closed on Sunday.
  • The Summit Municipal Pool is closed on Sunday.
  • The Springfield Municipal Pool is closed on Sunday.
  • Both pools in Cranford are closed on Sunday.
  • The Mountainside Community Pool is closed on Sunday.
  • Rahway Mayor Rick Proctor has imposed a curfew starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday until further notice.
  • All bars in Rahway are closed from 10 p.m. on Sunday until further notice.
