Two-Time World Champion Greco-Roman Wrestler and Bellator MMA™ Interim Bantamweight World Champion Joe Warren to Conduct Wrestling Clinics at Apex Wrestling Schools from May 29th through May 31st

Mahwah, Kenilworth, NJ – Apex Wrestling School is proud to announce the return of world renowned wrestler and Bellator MMA™ Interim Bantamweight World Champion Joe Warren. Joe will be available to all Apex Wrestling members for classes and clinics on May 29th (Kenilworth, NJ) and May 31st

(Mahwah, NJ). Non-members of Apex Wrestling School are welcome to attend for $30/class. Private lessons are available per availability. Full schedule of classes and extended details for each location can be found at apexwrestlingschool.com/thereturn.

Warren, 37, has compiled an overall mixed martial arts record of 11-3 record on his way to capturing two world championships. Known internationally for his tenacious, confident and explosive attitude, Joe provides valuable on-and-off the mat lessons that are specifically geared towards youth and high school wrestlers. Joe is a frequent visitor of Apex Wrestling Schools as he enjoys promoting youth wrestling all over the United States. He joined “The Fight to Save Wrestling in the Olympics” in 2013 with other notable wrestling and mixed martial arts figures including Jordan Burroughs and the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Damion Logan, former Michigan Wolverine teammate of Joe and Owner/Head Coach of Apex Wrestling School, has provided his wrestling knowledge during Joe’s international mixed martial arts career, specifically in weight management, scouting the opposition and mental preparation.

 Driven by his love for the sport and teaching values to youth wrestlers, Joe is excited to return to Apex Wrestling Schools and the state where he won his second mixed martial arts championship.

Quick facts about Joe Warren:

 - Born October 31, 1976 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

- Made his first national wrestling team in 6th grade.

- Attended and wrestled at University of Michigan from 1995-00 compiling a 104-33-0 record.

- Shortly after graduating, he was invited to Olympic Wrestling Training Center in Colorado where he was encouraged to convert from freestyle to Greco-Roman.

- In 2007 he was runner-up for the Sullivan Award (Most Outstanding Amateur Athlete in America).

- DREAM 7 Featherweight Grand Prix (Japan):

  •  Competed in his first mixed martial arts match March 8, 2009 and defeated Chase Beebe via doctor stoppage in the first round of the tournament.
  • Defeated Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto via split decision in the second round of the tournament, handing Yamamoto only his second loss in 20 fights.
  •  Lost to Bibiano Fernandez via controversial armbar submission in the third round of the tournament.

- Signed with Bellator MMA™ in February 2010

  •  Entered Featherweight Championship Tournament (bracket style) consisting of three rounds. Won all three rounds and defeated then champion Joe Soto (9/2/10, via knockout, round 2).
  • Defended Featherweight Championship for two years.

- In 2012, he was chosen as USA Olympic Team Coach in London for Greco-Roman.

- Starred in reality TV Show “The Fight Master” with fellow MMA stars Frank Shamrock, Randy Couture, and Greg Jackson (aired Summer 2013).

  •  During 1998-99 season, he was voted University of Michigan’s Most OutstandingWrestler at the Big 10 Championships.
  •  Led the team in wins and pins during 1999-00 season.

- Has previous coaching experience at St. Mary’s High School, University of Pennsylvania, United States Military Academy at West Point, at Stevens Institute of Technology.

- Will have involvement in coaching at 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada.
