Did you know?

*Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 16-20 in New Jersey?

*Seat belt use among teens is the lowest for any age group?

*Every ten minutes a teen crashes in New Jersey?

*More male drivers than female drivers are involved in teen crashes?

These facts are alarming.  The Westfield High School Physical Education Department wants to be proactive in reducing these statistics and helping our students to be safe, defensive drivers.  We are bringing Share the Keys to Westfield High School on Tuesday, February 25th at 7 pm in the High School Auditorium.  Share the Keys is a research based, data-driven orientation designed to reduce teen driver crash risks by increasing parental involvement.

We are providing the opportunity for ALL of our sophomores come to this presentation with at least ONE of their parents or guardians (even if they have Driver Education in the fourth marking period).  This presentation is part of their driver education class and the information will be used and discussed in their class.  The program will begin with the Share the Keys presentation, followed by a round table discussion with representatives from DonTre Driving School, State Farm Insurance Company, Westfield Police Department and the Westfield Physical Education Department.

Please mark your calendar and join us for this special presentation.  We look forward to seeing you at this acclaimed program and hope that the knowledge that you and your child gain will be significant in helping them to become safe, defensive drivers and will offer you a series of practices to help them in this quest.

The information above will be sent to all sophomore parents or guardians but we do not want to limit this program to just one grade level.  I would like you to be aware of this program that we are bringing to Westfield High School and encourage you to discuss this program with your students.  If a student brings a parent or guardian they will be eligible for the prizes that DonTre Driving School, State Farm Insurance Company, our PTSO and others are offering.  Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to attend this presentation. Thank you for your time in supporting our program in February.
