Roosevelt Intermediate School is proud to present this year’s fall production, Les Misérables. The drama (presented in straight play form) adapted by Tim Kelly from the classic novel by Victor Hugo is an epic and uplifting story. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams, unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption – a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit.
Les Misérables, one of the world’s greatest literary classics, sold out its first edition the day it went on sale in 1862. Since then, it has never been out of print. It has been filmed countless times and is currently the subject of a smash-hit international pop opera. Ex-convict Jean Valjean (Julian Mazzola) is hunted for decades by the ruthless Inspector Javert (Nicholas Guerriero) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Kimmi Zimmermann) young daughter, Cosette (Eve Crandall), their lives change forever. Filled with fascinating vignettes of the 19th –century France, the script boasts a brilliant cast of characters who weave an exciting tapestry of humankind at its best and worst.
Cast and crew of 50 members, directed by Kimberly Jonny will be performing at Roosevelt Intermediate School, located at 301 Clark Street, Westfield. Tickets for Les Misérables are on sale now. The performances are: Friday, Nov. 1st at 7:30 pm, Saturday, Nov. 2nd, at 7:30 pm and Sunday, Nov. 3rd at 2 pm. Cost of tickets are: $8. in advance, $10 at the door.
