Lance: 11 Million Face Higher Premiums Under ObamaCare

Non-partisan Report Undermines Administration Promise

WASHINGTON, DC– Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today released the following statement in response to a report from the non-partisan Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on the impact of ObamaCare on employer-provided health care premiums for small businesses.  The report finds that two-thirds of Americans who work at small businesses, nearly 11 million workers, will see premiums increase under ObamaCare:

“The Administration has confirmed what I’ve been hearing from constituents for months: that premiums are rising for hard-working families and that few are realizing the President’s promise of affordable coverage.  As health insurance premiums rise, take-home pay declines and the effect will be felt at every level of the economy.

“This report again undermines key promises made by the Administration. I urge the Administration to come to the table and be willing to reform and replace the law.   Millions of families lost the plans they liked, employers have been forced to cut paid hours for employees, senior citizens are being threatened by major Medicare cuts and now 11 million small business employees will pay higher premiums.  It’s past time for the President to be willing to make some changes to the law.”
