GET ACTIVE AT THE WESTFIELD AREA Y’S FREE TAE KWON DO OPEN HOUSE

The Westfield Area Y invites the community to join them at a Tae Kwon Do Open House on Saturday, September 21st from Noon-4:00 pm at the Robert and Virginia Bauer Family Branch, 422 East Broad Street in Westfield. The event is free and offers participants an opportunity throughout the afternoon to learn how Tae Kwon Do develops self-confidence, self-defense, flexibility, agility and overall physical fitness. Classes are offered for the beginner through advanced levels for kids and adults.

Free events throughout the afternoon include:

· Watch a Class from Noon-1:00 pm. See a high-rank class demonstrate in protech weapons, board breaking forms and sparring.

· Meet the Instructors from 1:00-1:30 pm. All instructors will be available to answer any questions regarding Tae Kwon Do.

· Bullying Prevention from 1:30-2:30 pm. Learn the facts about bullying, how to recognize potential dangers and what to do if bullying turns to violence. Kids learn what to do when a peer bullies them. Parents learn what they need to do. Open to parents and children of all ages.

· Attend the Adult Self Defense Seminar from 2:30-4:00 pm. Participants will gain an understanding of the predatory actions of assailants and work on developing a mindset and a number of personal security steps that may prevent you from becoming a victim. Learn some basic self-defense techniques to protect yourself in the worst case scenarios. Open to ages 16+.
