Congregation Beth Israel to Hold Community Shabbat Dinner for New and Prospective Members

Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains will host a Community Shabbat Dinner to welcome new and prospective members on Friday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m.

The dinner is jointly sponsored by the synagogue’s Member Relations Committee, Sisterhood and Men’s Club and is open to families in the community. The meal will be a traditional Friday night kosher chicken and brisket dinner.

Following the dinner, everyone is invited to join Congregation Beth Israel’s Friday night services at 7:30 p.m.  These casual family-friendly services are held in the round, and are always open to the community.  An Oneg Shabbat will follow Friday night services.

“We planned the Community Shabbat Dinner so that people of all ages could come together to celebrate Shabbat in a warm, friendly setting," said Lisa Strug, Member Relations Chair of Congregation Beth Israel. “We hope that by bringing together our new families with some of our long-time congregants and our clergy, everyone will feel what makes Congregation Beth Israel a special place.  And we encourage non-members to join us to learn more about our community."
