Congregation Beth Israel to Hold Car Wash for Charity

Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains will hold a spring car wash open to the public on Sunday, May 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit the food pantry of Jewish Family Service (JFS) of Central New Jersey, located in Elizabeth.  JFS is a nonprofit, non-sectarian, social services agency.

The car wash will be run by teenage volunteers from Congregation Beth Israel’s youth group, United Synagogue Youth.

The car wash is one of approximately 25 outreach activities taking place on May 4 as part of Congregation Beth Israel’s Mitzvah Day, a day of service within the community.

“The JFS food pantry currently has a dire need for food and funds at this time,” said Laurie Woog, a Mitzvah Day organizer at Congregation Beth Israel.  “Money raised from the car wash will go directly towards feeding the hungry in our community.”

Congregation Beth Israel is located at 18 Shalom Way, Scotch Plains, New Jersey (at the corner of Martine Avenue). For more information, contact the synagogue office at (908) 889-1830 or at office@cbisp.org.
