Claudia Hu to Perform as Piano Soloist with Plainfield Symphony

2013 Silver Prizewinner of the Entire Concerto Division (YPCNJ) Claudia Hu will appear as a soloist with the Plainfield Symphony Orchestra on March 29, 2014. 

Fifteen year-old Claudia Hu has appeared numerous times at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Steinway Hall (New York City), The Events Gallery at Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts, the Shandelee Sunset Concert Pavilion (NY) and the St. Nicoló Auditorium in Chioggia (VE, Italy), as well as other various venues throughout New Jersey as a winner of numerous competitions.  She also appeared several times as a featured soloist with Orchestra Sinfonica del Festival di Chioggiaunder the direction of Pietro Perini.

In the fall of 2012, Claudia performed a pair of full-length piano solo fund raising concerts for Shandelee Music Festival and YPCNJ.  In February 2013, Claudia performed at the Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church as a winner of the 14th Showcase for Exceptionally Talented Young Artists presented by Crescent Concerts. She was subsequently invited back for another performance and appeared at the Crescent Concerts Children’s Choir Festival in April 2013.

In July 2013, Claudia was one of the featured artists on Shandelee Music Festival’s Sunset Concert Series held at the Events Gallery in Bethel Woods performing Mozart Piano Concerto No. 12, K. 414 accompanied by the Festival String Quintet.

Claudia’s numerous competition accomplishments include: the Russian Music Festival Competition, Cecilian Music Club’s Young Artist Competition, Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey, YWCA Queens New York Competition and New Jersey Music Teachers Association Young Pianist Competition.

Claudia participated in Festival “Musica in Laguna” (2008 – 2011 & 2013) and Shandelee Music Festival (2012 & 2013) where she studied with renowned pianists Alexander Shtarkman and Alexander Kobrin.

Claudia has been studying piano for eight years with Yelena Ivanov, former professor at the Gnesinsky Academy of Music in Moscow, Russia. She is currently an Honor Roll student at The Pingry School.
