CHORAL ART SOCIETY OF NJ SINGS BRAHMS AND RUTTER

The Choral Art Society of New Jersey will present a spring evening of romantic and inspiring choral music, 8:00 P.M., Saturday, May 17 at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield (Broad Street & Mountain Avenue).

On the program will be Johannes Brahms' LIEBESLIEDER WALTZER for choir, solo quartet, and piano 4-hands, and REQUIEM by John Rutter.

Brahms set his charming love songs in the dance-like landler style.  They depict the ups and downs of courtship with a sense of adoration and longing that is absolutely engaging (no pun intended).

Rutter's REQUIEM is an uplifting version of the familiar requiem mass with added material that makes the theme contemplative in a very personal manner.  The accompaniment is uniquely delivered by a handful of instruments chosen for their ability to "paint a picture in musical tone colors".  Choral Art will be joined in the third movement by soprano Maureen Francis singing the beautiful "Pie Jesu".

Tickets may be purchased by visiting:  http://www.casofnj.org or at the door - $20./$15./ Seniors
