Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains will host a one-hour multimedia presentation, “300 Ways to Make an Unforgettable Seder” on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 9:30 am.  Sponsored by the synagogue’s Adult Education Committee, this program for the Jewish holiday of Passover is open to the community.  The presentation will cover a wide variety of topics, including: the history of the Passover Seder; the origins of its customs; and novel approaches to making a Seder. 

Guest lecturer Rickey Stein, co-author of the book, 300 Ways to ask the Four Questions: From Zulu to Abkhaz, will discuss creative ways to organize Seders around various themes so that they can be fun, interesting and educational.  With a passion for Judaism, Passover and language, Rickey Stein has a reputation for innovative Seders, which were featured in The New York Times.  “The Adult Education committee decided to sponsor this program so that congregants and members of the community could gain new insights into the Seder, as well as acquire practical suggestions for enhancing their Seder experiences,” said Gary Goldner, Adult Education Chair, Congregation Beth Israel.  “Even those of us who have made Seders for many years will enjoy adding some of the new materials offered in this presentation to our Seders this Passover,” Goldner said.
