What is Fructose?

Fructose has been deemed to be healthy because it comes from fruit. It exists as a natural part of fruit. If you only ate one or two pieces of fruit a day you would be ok but fructose is also being used as a food additive called High Fructose Corn Syrup.  Americans are over consuming HFCS, at an alarming rate causing many serious ramifications besides obesity.

A new UCLA study has just shown that a steady diet high in fructose can damage your memory and learning. The study was published in the Journal of Physiology.

Joan, thank you for dispelling the myth.

I think this is a common problem that is growing. Up until recently, I didn't know there was a difference between fructose and HFCS.

Knowledge is power. Keep up the good work!

As I said, I was very sick. Getting well and regaining your independence can be a strong driver. I learned a lot and hope I can relay just some of it for others to stay or get well also. At least prevent, any future ills. Sugar is badly misunderstood and so is calorie counting. But more of that in future posts.
