Westfield Woman, 21, in Critical Condition Following Hit-and-Run

Allison Lowenstein, 21, of Westfield, was struck shortly after 5 p.m Tuesday, July 17, while jogging in upstate New York.

New York State Park Police are searching for the driver of car who hit Allison Lowenstein, 21, of Westfield, leaving her in critical condition, and drove away Tuesday, according to reports by the Times Herald-Record and Newsday.

Lowenstein, a graduate, was jogging down Seven Lakes Drive west of the intersection of Lake Welch Drive in Harriman State Park between 5 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. Tuesday when a car hit her, then took off, the report states.

She was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where she remains in critical condition Thursday.

Lowenstein is listed on the 2012 Oberlin College Women's Cross Country roster. 

Police had no description of the vehicle, but are asking anyone with information regarding the accident to call them at 845-786-2781.
