Westfield students interested in getting a first-rate workout need look no further than the newly-renovated Westfield High School fitness center. At a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Thursday evening, students, alumni, coaches, Board of Education members, supporters of Westfield athletics and members of the Westfield Town Council gathered to celebrate the state-of-the-art facility.
As Ferraro's restaurant gears up for its eagerly-anticipated reopening, the Elm Street eatery is hiring. Those interested can also complete the online application, available through the restaurant's website.
Speaking of food, Ana Beall's Tea Room and Savory Spice Shop announced their line-up of fall cooking classes. The tea room, recently named one of Open Table's Top 10 Places for Brunch, is serving up some tasty-sounding classes for everyone from novice bakers to curious would-be winemakers this fall. Savory Spice Shop offers treats in time for tailgating as well as "naked" food and a Harry Potter-themed evening.
Westfield Councilman Keith Loughlin said he believes the Westfield Fire Department is adequately staffed even in light of the four Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants for which the town applied not coming through.
