Westfield Public Schools Closed Tuesday, Nov. 6

The decision was based on concerns for the safety of students.

All Westfield public schools will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 6, according to Board of Education President Rich Mattessich.

"The decision is based on the strong recommendation of the chief of police out of concern for the safety of students," said Mattessich.

Nearly all the buildings have had power restored and Mattessich said the Board was attempting to make alternate arrangements for those schools without power but the safety of children getting to and from school is of utmost concern.

A decision regarding Wednesday's session will be made on or before 8 p.m. Tuesday evening and parents will be alerted via the Honeywell system.

Central Ave is still detoured near Clark; power line down on Boynton between Pearl and Hardwick hasn't been touched, many other locations dangerous; where is all the advocacy the mayor has been talking about?
