Westfield Police Actively Investigating Car Burglary Suspects
Police remind residents to lock their vehicles.
The Westfield Police Department is actively investigating car burglary suspects who were apprehended early Wednesday morning.
According to Westfield Police Capt. Cliff Auchter there is an active investigation but because not all the paperwork has been filed, no further details can be released at this time.
Car break-ins have been reoccurring throughout the year, with the most recent taking place between Aug. 4 and 10. Earlier this year, the Westfield and Cranford police departments worked together to find thieves who robbed 22 cars in Westfield and many more in Cranford during St. Patrick's Day weekend.
Westfield Police Chief David Wayman told Patch at the time that in many instances, residents' cars were unlocked. He reminded residents to keep their cars locked even if they are parked in driveways or in front of their homes.
Patch will update this story when more information is available.
