Westfield Man Charged With Theft at Train Station
The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Murray Perch, 61, of Westfield, was arrested on Friday, May 18 and charged with theft, according to the Westfield Police Department.
Perch, who runs Sunnyside News at the Westfield Train Station, was "picked up in the late afternoon after a plainclothes officer observed" Perch allegedly removing money from a pay station machine at the Westfield train station, according to Westfield Police Capt. Cliff Auchter.
Because the amount of the alleged theft was under $200, this is a disorderly persons charge and the case will be heard in Municipal Court, Auchter said.
Perch was released and has a pending court date of June 8.
When contacted by Patch, Perch said he had no comment.
