Westfield Historical Society Membership Campaign Begins

Organization preserves and encourages interest in history.

The Westfield Historical Society membership committee announces that the Society's 2013 membership campaign is under way. Committee Chair Jane Francz notes that with the restoration of the historic Reeve house completed, many of the museum items previously stored at the Elm Street Archives have been moved  and are now available for viewing during weekly tours.  She also notes that membership provides the necessary support to continue the varied activities and to sustain the lasting legacy for Westfield and the community.

The Westfield Historical Society is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve and encourage interest in history, Westfield, and its residents through educational efforts and community outreach programs. The recently renovated Reeve house serves as the organization's headquarters, museum, and history and cultural center.

Monthly luncheons with speakers as well as an evening speaker's series provide historical information and fellowship. The Center also offers themed  exhibits, tours, oral history preservation, special programs and events for visitors of all ages. The next exhibit, which will open mid February, will celebrate Black history focusing on Union County residents during the civil war period. A special opening day presentation will be given by Ethel Washington to kick off the exhibit.
