Car Accident Temporarily Closes Mountain Ave. Between Birch and Colonial
A car was being cleared as of 11:15 a.m.
A car accident temporarily closed Mountain Avenue between Birch and Colonial Avenues shortly after 11 a.m. Friday morning.
Two tow trucks were at the scene. One was removing a Hyundai Santa Fe, which appeared to have crashed into a tree. The other was carrying a Dodge Caravan, which was not involved in the accident. The Hyundai was being cleared from the scene at 11:15 a.m..
Westfield Police officers rerouted traffic, though they said they could not immediately release any information on the crash. The Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad responded with an ambulance at the scene. Reid Edles, president of the squad, said no one was transported to the hospital.
Patch will update the story as new information becomes available.

I think the accident was caused by the pedestrian HAWK light on Central Avenue. The flashing red lights confused the driver as they were trying to pull into a driveway they thought was an intersection onto Clover. Glad no one was hurt.
