The Weekender: Festivals, Fundraisers and Family Fun
A number of the events this weekend are rain or shine so bring your umbrella and enjoy all the fall festivities that are planned.
Patch calendars are full of wonderful things to do this weekend with the family and for adults only. Maybe start the weekend with a relaxing date night with your spouse or a special someone at the Wine & Beer Tasting on Friday night. Saturday offers a number of family fun events that will take place rain or shine and you can jam at the Rock Festival in Clark. Sunday promises to be a fun day at the Fannywood Day Street Fair and The Harvest Festival.

This fundraising event is hosted by the Education Enrichment Foundation of SPF District and will be held at The Chelsea of Fanwood. The ticket price includes wine, beer and light hors d’oeuvres. The first 100 guests over 21 years of age will receive a complimentary wine glass. $30.00/person - 7:30 p.m. to 10 :30 p.m. – Fanwood
This family fun event will begin held from September 27th through the 30th with rides, food, entertainment and lots of family fun. The fair runs: Thursday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Free – Cranford
This is the 4th Annual Rock Festival to benefit The Hemophilia Association of New Jersey. There will be rides, face painting, door prizes and a number of talented New Jersey Bands will perform. This event is rain or shine and all are invited. $35.00/person – 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. - Clark
Need a Halloween costume? This is a great opportunity to save money and help those in need. This sale will benefit Mothers on a Mission which is a nonprofit, charitable organization. Their mission is to help women and children in developing countries achieve equality and justice through education and healthcare. $5.00 for most costumes – 9:00 a.m. to noon – Westfield
Don’t let the big one get away at the Kids Fishing Derby in Cranford. This event is for children and will take place at Nomahegan Park. There will be gifts and prizes. Free – 9 a.m to 10:30 a.m. – Cranford
The Cranford Historical Society will be hosting a Wine and Cheese Candlelight Social at the Elks Club. The fundraiser will benefit The Crane-Phillips House Museum and The Hanson House. There will be wine, cheese, door prizes and gift basket raffles. All guests 21 years of age and older are invited. $40.00/person – 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. – Cranford
This is the 31st Annual Harvest Festival at the Trailside Nature and Science Center. There will be demonstrations of Early American life featuring music, children’s crafts and games. There will be a petting zoo so bring your family and enjoy the day. This event will take place rain or shine. Free – 11 a.m. – Mountainside
This fun event offers an ice-cream eating contest, a bubble blowing contest along with a classic car show and so much more. There will also be a photo contest for photographers of all ages. Free – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Fanwood
This event will begin at 9:00 a.m. with registration opening at 7:30 a.m. A USA Track & Field Grand Prix Event will begin from the front parking lot of Jonathan Dayton High School. Children under the age of nine years old can enjoy free rides. $30.00/person ($23./$28. To USATF Members) and $10.00/person for Fast Run -9:00 a.m. – Springfield
