Monday:
The Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
Karate N Motion is offering a free trial in Krav Maga self-defense for men, women and college-bound teens. The class runs from 8 to 9:15 p.m.
Tuesday:
The Presbyterian Church in Westfield hosts a weekly 'Searching for Work' group in the church's Jim Cole Room on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. The group is for those searching for work and membership is open to everyone in the Westfield community. The group offers support in the searching for work process and allows for networking and the sharing of job search information.
The Youth & Family Counseling Service is offering a program for teens where high school-aged members meet each Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m at the agency.
The Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m. at the Board of Education building.
The Town Council will meet at 8 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
Wednesday:
Savory Spice Shop presents Flavors of Morocco, at 7 p.m. Andrea Krest, personal chef extraordinaire, will take attendees on a culinary journey to Morocco. All participants are provided with a tasting, demonstrated recipes, discussion of dishes and a profile of each of the spices included in the recipes. The menu will include Spiced Harissa Almonds, Tomato Jam, Vegetarian Tagine with Preserved Lemon and grilled flatbread with Za'atar. The cost is $15 per person.
Create a beautiful "Tree of Life" using wire and gemstone chips to create a pendant for a necklace at 11 a.m. at Just Bead Yourself. The fee is $45 and includes all materials and classroom use of tools. Participants may choose from various gemstone chips including Peridot, Citrine, Garnet and more. Suggested Age: adult or children 9 and up.
Thursday:
On April 12th, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will have two services for the The Holy Passion and Crucifixion of our Lord. The first will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the reading of the Twelve Gospels and a 7 p.m. service.
Westfield resident George Melloan, retired deputy editor, international, for The Wall Street Journal, will be the kickoff speaker for the 2012 Anne Hale Speaker Series at 7 p.m. at the Westfield Memorial Library. His topic will be “Returning the US to Economic Stability.”
At 8 p.m. Karate N Motion offers Krav Maga Self Defense for women only. For a limited time, classes are free. Sign up is available through the website or by calling Jason at 732-684-0929.
Friday:
The Presbyterian Church in Westfield will host its bible study meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m
Westfield Recreation presents THE “UNDERGROUND” (a.k.a- The Teen Center) on Friday nights. From 7 to 11 p.m., the event is held literally, underground, in the basement of the Municipal Building Recreation Center. Teens can play a game of pool at one of the three pool tables, keep their ping-pong skills in check, play some video games, watch a movie, or listen to their favorite music.
