The Week Ahead: MLK Day Commemoration and Meetings

What's happening this week in Westfield?

 

Monday:

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will begin with a pancake breakfast at the Westfield Community Center. The event starts at 8 a.m. and costs $5 per person.

The 25th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Service will be held this year at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield at 1 p.m. 

Tuesday:

The Presbyterian Church of Westfield hosts a weekly 'Searching for Work' group in the church's Jim Cole Room on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. The group is for those searching for work and membership is open to everyone in the Westfield community. The group offers support in the searching for work process and allows for networking and the sharing of job search information.

The Youth & Family Counseling Service is offering a program for teens where high school-aged members meet each Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m at the agency.

De-cluttering expert Jamie Novak will present organizing tips and sign copies of her new book at the Westfield Memorial Library starting at 7 p.m.

The Town Council will meet at 8 p.m. at the municipal building.

Wednesday:  

Westfield High School's own Media Specialist, Nancy Latimer will facilitate a session on using social media. Discussed will be Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and much more. Please address any questions to: whsptso@westfieldnjk12.org that you would like Ms. Latimer to discuss during the presentation. This event will be held in the WHS library at 7:30 p.m. and all are welcome.

Thursday:

Jeffrey's of Westfield will offer its first-ever evening of live music from 7 to 10 p.m. An acoustic trio, Thieves and Poets, will entertain diners.

Today is the deadline for the Westfield Preschool Program.

Friday:

Gemmette Hair Studio is hosting a Ladies Night of Beauty starting at 7 p.m. Learn how to achieve salon-like styles. CoolVines will offer a wine tasting as well. Space is limited so please call 908-228- 5269 to reserve a spot.

The Westfield Recreation Department will present The Night Place.  This is a dance, open gym, game room, and movie night for Intermediate School aged students starting at 7 p.m. The fee for this event is $5 payable at the door. Adult volunteers are needed to help with this event. 

There will be a Westfield Historic Preservation Commission meeting at Westfield Town Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.
