The Week Ahead: Meetings and Gov. Christie Comes to Town
What's happening this week in Westfield?
Monday:
A Raritan Valley Coalition meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Westfield Municipal Building. Steven Santoro, Assistant Executive Director, NJ Transit Capital Planning, will present an update on the status of the engineering and funding for replacement of the portal bridge at this meeting.
The Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
Tuesday:
The Presbyterian Church in Westfield hosts a weekly 'Searching for Work' group in the church's Jim Cole Room on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. The group is for those searching for work and membership is open to everyone in the Westfield.
The Youth & Family Counseling Service is offering a program for teens where high school-aged members meet each Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m at the agency.
The Westfield Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m. at the BOE building. The Board will announce its decision regarding moving the BOE election from April to November to coincide with the general election.
Wednesday:
Gov. Chris Christie will hold a town hall-style meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the Westfield National Guard Armory.
A "Clean Air Rally for Our Kids" will take place at noon at the South Avenue Train Station. RSVP to attend the Westfield Rally for Our Kids’ Future.
Children ages 9 through 12 can preview a free yoga class at Health in Motion from 4 to 5 p.m.
Sunrex Entertainment Group and Sorrento Restaurant present "The New Blues at Sorrento." Doors open for dinner at 6 p.m. and the performance will take place from 7 to 9 .m. Tickets are $29.95 and include the choice of a barbeque style dinner entree, dessert and beverage. The restaurant is a BYOB and offers free parking. Edward Jones will host an open house starting at 3 p.m. Refreshments and snacks will be served

The Presbyterian Church in Westfield will host its bible study meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m
Roosevelt Intermediate School eighth graders will host their first annual Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds for their upcoming Service Project week in April. Seatings are offered at 5:30 and 7:15 p.m. To make a reservation, email RISSpaghetti@yahoo.com
It'smylocker.com has organized a Valentine Dance Party for fathers and daughters in grades three through six from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield's Assembly Hall.
