The Week Ahead: Meetings and Musical Offerings
What's happening this week in Westfield?
Monday:
The homework helpers will be at the Westfield Memorial Library from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the Municipal Building.
Karate N Motion is offering a free trial in Krav Maga self-defense for men, women and college-bound teens. The class runs from 8 to 9:15 p.m.
Tuesday:
Youth & Family Counseling Service is offering a program for teens where high school-aged members meet each Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m at the agency.
The Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m. at the Board of Education building at 302 Elm St.
Wednesday:
Bruce Long will present the second part of his slide/lecture on the history of Sicily, during the First Wednesday March Luncheon of the Westfield Historical Society at noon. To attend the luncheon and lecture please call 908-233-2930 by noon on Monday, March 5.
Thursday:
Broadway guitarist John Schwartz will bring his band Van Davis to town at 8 p.m. at The Crossroads in Garwood to benefit Sound Station.
Westfield High School will host the school's first performance of 'Pippin' at 7:30 p.m.
At 8 p.m. Karate N Motion offers Krav Maga Self Defense for women only. For a limited time, classes are free. Sign up is available through the website or by calling Jason at 732-684-0929.
Friday:
The Presbyterian Church in Westfield will host its bible study meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m
Westfield Recreation presents THE “UNDERGROUND” (a.k.a- The Teen Center) on Friday nights. From 7 to 11 p.m., the event is held literally, underground, in the basement of the Municipal Building Recreation Center. Teens can play a game of pool at one of the three pool tables, keep their ping-pong skills in check, play some video games, watch a movie, or listen to their favorite music.
'Pippin' will be performed at 7:30 p.m. at Westfield High School.

I had privilege of an advanced showing while I photographed the WHS production of Pippin.
