A month of hard work more than paid off for the cast and crew of Washington School's 65th annual play 'Roadsters & Jokesters' as the debut performance had the packed auditorium at Roosevelt Intermediate School roaring with laughter.
Filled with high-energy dance numbers, a colorful set and plenty of jokes, the musical, with a clever script written by Eric Lipkind, debuted Friday evening. The show will also be performed today at 1:30 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.
Backed by a powerhouse eight-piece band led by perennial music director Mitch Slater, the production is a labor of love for parents of current and former Washington School students.
All proceeds from the show are donated to the Washington School PTO to defray the cost of educational programs, purchase equipment, and fund teacher grants that enrich children’s learning.
Tickets are on sale now. All seats are $12 for the evening performances and $8 for the Saturday matinee. Reserve tickets online from the Washington Elementary School Show web page. Tickets ordered and paid for in advance can be picked up at the door one-half hour prior to each performance. For questions about tickets, contact Monica Bergin at bergin5@comcast.net.
