Readers' Choice: Redeemer Lutheran Voted Favorite Preschool in Westfield
With nearly 42 percent of the votes, Redeemer Lutheran was crowned the winner.
Patch readers have chosen their favorite preschool: Redeemer Lutheran.
The school, which offers pre-kindergarten through sixth grade classes, was started in 1953 and is "intentional about providing a strong academic foundation in a loving Christian atmosphere," according to Redeemer Principal Al Tagliabue.
Tagliabue said he was "surprised" but "not shocked" by the results of Patch's poll.
"We have a loyal following," he said. "Redeemer has a long history of providing excellent Christian education for almost 60 years. We have many very successful graduates and I am sure many alums voted along with our parents.
"I am only starting my second year here, however, we have always had excellent, experienced teachers. We stress basic Christian teachings/values daily and hold a chapel every Wednesday for the school. That being said, we accept all different faiths and denominations."
Tagliabue also credits the school's community outreach and charitable work with the reason for its popularity in the poll. He said the school supports Children's Specialized Hospital and the Martin Wallberg American Legion Post No. 3 as well as many other national and worldwide charities and relief funds.
"We have a very active and supportive Parent Teacher Organization," he said. "We also have a full-day kindergarten which is a benefit for us."
The school offers a summer program with wrap-around extended care and enrichment activities in language arts and math as well as a structured individualized academic tutoring program.

Yahoo! Love Redeemer!!! My two girls attend there and we couldn't be happier! Congrats to St. Paul's as well. My son attended their 4+ class. If you're going to delay your child because of a birthday close to the cut-off, Mrs. Foley's 4+ class is amazing! My son learned to read in it and kindergarten has been a breeze!
